ESTIMATES ARE FREE OF CHARGE

In the case of obtaining an estimate for new construction the prospective client will need to provide approved plans/drawings from the Ministry of Works showing a valid permit number. The plans should have an electrical riser diagram, a panel schedule and the electrical floor plan showing the location of lights, switches and sockets.

For renovations and correction of work by another electrician, the client needs to provide a detailed description of the problem or scope of work required. If they are not sure then describe what it is you wish to achieve or the desired results. Further questions may be asked in order to narrow down the intention and ensure that we are on the “same page”.

If all of the information that is outlined in the answer to question 2 is supplied an estimate for new construction can be prepared in three to four days barring any unforeseen challenges. For renovations and repair estimates it will be necessary to do a site walkthrough and the turnaround time would be a maximum of one week.

While we try to discourage clients from going down this path for various reasons, yes it is possible to purchase your own materials. In the case of installation of fixtures this is typically done by the client.

Most general contractors usually have electricians that work for them, however a homeowner can insist to have their electrician bid on their job or work on their job if they have confidence in their work. Note. ONLY LICENSED ELECTRICAL CONTRACTORS ARE ALLOWED TO PRACTICE ELECTRICAL WORK.

There is a minimum hourly charge of $65.00 which is required to be paid in advance. This amount will be applied as a payment to your invoice should you decide to proceed with the recommended work to address the issue(s) identified. All costs for materials will have to be paid for in advance.

Helpful Tips

You will realize an immediate reduction in energy use when you replace your incandescent lamps with compact fluorescent (CFL) or even better, LED bulbs. The energy savings can be significant and they last much longer than incandescent bulbs.

Install Occupancy Motion Sensors Spaces that are used only for a few hours a day don’t need to be lit for the entire workday. Installing motion detecting occupancy sensors in these spaces will reduce your lighting costs, extend the life of your lighting equipment and reduce maintenance costs.

In the event your power is turned off during the night, installing emergency lighting in dark places such as corridors in your house will help with lighting to enable you to find your flashlights, candles or generator switch right after the power turns off. No more bumping into walls and furniture on your way to the room where your emergency supplies are kept.
